Jackie Jonthon Smith

Jackie Jonthon “Jack” Smith, 66, of Jackson, Ohio, passed at 12:55 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, 2020, at his home.

Jack was born March 23, 1954 in Vinton County, Ohio the son of the late Merrill Edgar Smith and Genevie (Arthur) Smith. He was united in marriage to Janice (Gillespie) Smith, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, William “Bill” (Misty Wood) Smith; two daughters, Sherry (Luke) Metcalf and Amber (Jason) Staten; a stepson, Nalin (Megan) Arthur, 10 grandchildren, Alex, Logan, Tylain, Noble, Jonny, Bella, Jay, Kemper, Taytem, and Kara; and two brothers, Merrill (Donna) Smith, Jr. and Art Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Merrill Edgar Smith and Genevie (Arthur) Smith; in-laws, Holly and Lois Gillespie; stepson, Holly David Arthur; sister, Nancy Beckley and sister-in-law, Linda G. Smith.

Jack graduated from Jackson High School in 1972, and enlisted in the United States Air Force where he was a Hound Dog Missile Specialist and a Jet Engine Technician. He worked as a machinist, tool and die maker at Goodyear/Meridian for over 30 years.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. with funeral services to be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept.13, 2020 at Hamilton Christian Church, Jackson, Ohio with Rondall Walker and Fred Crabtree officiating. Burial will follow in adjoining Hamilton Cemetery, Jackson, Ohio.
