Herbert Carlton “Jack” Tipton

Herbert Carlton “Jack” Tipton, age 89, of Jackson, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family, Thursday, June 25, 2020.  He was born June 17, 1931 in New Boston, Ohio to the late Herbert P. “Herb” and Mildred Clark Tipton. 

Jack graduated from Coalton High School and was a Veteran of the United States Navy.  He was a past member of the Jackson Disabled Veterans Chapter 45, Jackson American Legion Post 81 and the Trowel Lodge #132 F. & A.M. of Jackson.  Throughout the years, Jack enjoyed camping, boating, fishing on Lake Erie, playing cards with his friends at the golf course, watching his grandkids play sports, and most importantly, spending time with his family. He was extremely proud of his military experience and his family.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey Ellen Willis Tipton; son, Jack Tipton (Dee Manering); daughter, Cathy (Ted) Wolford; grandchildren, Scott (Tracy) Conley, Shane (Jenny) Wolford and Ryan Tipton; and great-grandchildren, Reagan, Reese, Austin, Cade, Bodhi, Ava, Broxton, Jaymen, Tristan, Treylan and Kinsley.  Also surviving are several sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, many nieces, nephews, and a number of close friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Morris Tipton; sister, Jeannie Buffington and grandson, Jason Tipton. 

A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2020 at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Rob Irvin officiating. Military graveside services by the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 45 will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Jackson.  The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. up to the time of the service.
