Gary Lee Border

Gary Lee Border, age 82, of Wellston, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2019, at the Holzer Medical Center in Jackson, Ohio.  He was born Feb. 24, 1937 in Wellston, Ohio, son of the late Dow H. Border and Lottie H. Clark Border. 

Gary was a 1955 graduate of Wellston High School. He was a welder all of his life and was a member of the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union Local #189. Gary was an avid golfer and he was a big fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the Cleveland Browns.  In his later years, Gary enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Gary was a 50-year member of the Black Diamond Lodge #538 F&AM.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Colleen Harbeson Border; son, Brad Border of Wellston; daughter, Sheri Derrow of Wellston; grandchildren, Mandi Mullikin (Matt) of McKinney, Texas and Brant Derrow (Kiley) of Wellston; and great-grandchildren, Jameson Mullikin and Bradon, Hudson and Colson Derrow.

Besides his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Jim Derrow; and sister, Dowlene Morgan. 

Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Rob Ervin officiating.  Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery.
