Emma Frances Houser

Emma Frances Houser passed away on Aug. 16, 2020 in Jackson County, Ohio, at 87 years of age. Born in Center Point, Indiana on Dec. 12, 1932, Emma was the daughter of the late Willard Houser and Hazel Brunton Houser. In addition to her loving parents, she was predeceased by her beloved sisters, Dolores H. Russ (Dr. Fritz Russ), Betty Houser Pomeroy (Richard Pomeroy) and brother, Floyd Houser (Samantha Houser). She is also predeceased by her former husband, William Evan Clark.

Emma was a gifted writer and storyteller who loved to write letters to her family and friends, and was especially close to her sisters. She was a prolific writer of heartwarming short stories which were regularly published in the local newspaper. She loved nature and was very knowledgeable about birds, moths, butterflies, trees and wildflowers. She took pride in keeping her farmhouse beautiful, tending her flowers and getting outside on her riding tractor to mow her property.

Emma maintained family artifacts and photos and loved sharing family history and stories. She spoke with a lyrical voice. Emma was an avid reader. In her later years at the Four Winds Nursing Facility, she read countless books and especially loved mysteries and biographies. Emma was a wonderful aunt who always made everyone who came to visit the farm feel special. She will be remembered as a witty, intelligent, independent, kind and generous soul who will be very greatly missed by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
