Eloise M. Pittenger

Eloise M. Pittenger, 89, of Wellston, Ohio, went home to forever be with the Lord on Tuesday morning, December 11, 2012, at Traditions at Bristol Village in Waverly, Ohio. She was born on the family farm in Gallia County, Ohio, on July 8, 1923, daughter of the late Roy and Mae Denney Chamberlain. She was the youngest of their five children.

She was united in marriage on February 14, 1941, to her late husband, William L. “Jim” Pittenger, who died in May of 1996. She was an expert at sewing very small items around her house and keeping her children’s clothing mended. She also had a love for flower gardening. She was a member of the West Lafayette Methodist Church.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Leslie; a daughter, Charlene Foreman; two brothers, Everett and Homer Chamberlain; and a sister, Jessie Hathaway.

Surviving is a son, Richard Pittenger, of Galion, Ohio; a daughter, Ethel Welch, of Circleville, Ohio; a brother, Richard Chamberlain, of Norfolk, Virginia; nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston on Friday from 12 p.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. Chaplain Billy Morris will officiate the services, and Eloise’s final resting place will be the Ridgewood Cemetery in Wellston.
