Eldon D. Shook

Eldon D. Shook, age 88, of Wellston, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013, at the Echo Manner Nursing Home in Pickerington, Ohio. He was born February 12, 1925 in Coalton, Ohio, the son of the late George and Emma (Holberg) Shook.

Eldon was a graduate of Coalton High School Class of 1943 and a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II for three years with the majority of that time in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. He attained the rank of Radioman Second Class (RM2C). Eldon was retired from McNally-Pittsburg Manufacturing Company of Wellston as its Chief Engineer. He was a member of the American Legion Post #277 in Coalton, Ohio; Black Diamond Lodge #538 F&AM in Wellston; Wellston Historical Society and a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Wellston.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Donna (Littlejohn) Shook; three brothers and three sisters, as well as his granddaughter, Holly Triplett in January of 2013. Surviving is his son Robert (Dolores) Shook, daughter Debra (Douglas) Triplett, as well as several grandchildren, great-granddaughter Clementine Shirley and several nephews and nieces.

There will be no calling hours. Graveside funeral service will be Tuesday, at 1 p.m. at the Ridgewood Cemetery in Wellston with military honors by the American Legion Post 371 of Wellston. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Eldon’s name to the Mt. Carmel Hospice on Dublin Road in Columbus, Ohio. Funeral services are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home.
