Doris Maxine (Falk) Hale

Doris Maxine (Falk) Hale, age 90, of Jackson, Ohio, went home to join her beloved husband, Alva Thomas on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. For the past six years, Doris has been residing with her daughter, Debbie and son-in-law in Medina, Ohio.

Doris was born on January 12, 1924 in St. Paul, Nebraska to the late Ella and Edwin Falk. She graduated from high school in St. Paul, Nebraska, and graduated college from the University of Nebraska. She met the love of her life at a USO dance in Nebraska; together they celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Doris was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Jackson. She was a member of the Women’s Church Group, Mother’s Club, and Good Year Women’s Club. For many years she was an election poll worker. She also participated in the Arthritis Foundation warm water swim class in Jackson and LifeWorks with her daughter, up until March of this year. Doris and Al were active participants of the Wagon Wheelers Square Dance Club. Through the years, Doris assisted with Brownies, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Room Mothers, 4-H, and Sunday school. She also played an active role as Mrs. Claus.

Doris is survived by her five children, Pamela (John) Fleming of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Linda (Dale) Goossen of Rockford, Michigan, Debbie (David) Belasco of Medina, Ohio, Tom (Jacqueline) Hale of Pickerington, Ohio, and Julie (Lorne) Connell of Waterloo Ontario, Canada; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Beulah Taylor of Evansville, Indiana; and seven nieces.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Carl and a sister, Jean.

Friends may call at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson, Ohio on Sunday, November 1, 2014 from 12 to 2 p.m. A service will immediately follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Dave Roach officiating.
