Donald William Shaffer, Jr.

Donald William Shaffer, Jr., age 62, passed away unexpectedly on February 17, 2012 in Denham Springs, Louisiana. He was born April 15, 1949 in Washington Court House, Ohio to Donald and Patricia Shaffer.Donnie is survived by his beloved ex-wife, Joann Shaffer of Baton Rouge, La.; his sister, Deanna Michael Stroth of Jackson; brother, Barry Shaffer of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Catherine Gillum of Jackson and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his best friend, Rev. Philip Pimlott and a beloved step-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Patricia Shaffer and his brother-in-law, Michael Gillum.Donnie was a graduate of the Jimmy Swaggart Bible college and was an ordained minister. He played guitar in the Swaggart band for more than 14 years, until his blood disorder prevented it.There will be a memorial service held on March 4th at 3 p.m. at The Lighthouse in Jackson with the Rev. Russ Strange officiating. A graveside service will be held on Donnies birthday, April 15th, at Mount Olivet Cemetery with Father Joseph Trapp presiding.
