Carroll Cahoon

Carroll Ray Cahoon, 94, of Wellston, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022, at the Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis. He was born on November 2, 1927, in Jackson, Ohio, son of the late Giles and Lottie (Hill) Cahoon.

Carroll was a veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Navy for three years; among other things, helping to return military personnel following WWII. He retired from McNally Pittsburg after 20 years of service.  Carroll was a very talented man and was known for his woodworking which he sold at area flea markets for many years. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Emogene (Farley) Cahoon; son, Melvin (Patty) Cahoon; daughters, Carol (Rick) Abrahamson and Linda (Cathy Carlisle) Cahoon; seven grandchildren: Amber Scholl, Mike Vickers, Riley Abrahamson, Joel Cahoon, Carroll Cahoon II, Caitlin Cahoon, and Tammy VanDyke; eight great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Carroll was preceded in death by his brothers: Luther, Hobard, Robert, and John; and sisters, Della Frances, and Jean Cahoon.

A funeral service celebrating Carroll’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of R.M. Williams Funeral Service, 120 W. Broadway St., Wellston. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Pattonsville Community Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
