Larry Lee Linton

By | June 3, 2013

Larry Lee Linton, 73 of Coalton, Ohio went to be with his father, at his home, on June 1, 2013 after a long bout with cancer.

Larry was born in Coalton, Ohio on Dec. 18, 1939 to George and Chloe Linton. Growing up, he enjoyed many special times with his brothers, Fred, Dave and Glenn; as well as with his sisters, Ruby and Shirley. He later married Pauline Sharp of Jackson, on Oct. 8, 1960, with whom he spent 51 wonderful years together. Together, they had three wonderful children, Malinda, Diana and Cheryl. Larry was retired in August of 1987 after 30 years of hard work with the Aspen Tree Company. At this time, Larry poured himself into his granddaughters, Amy, Britnay and Courtney, all daughters of Cheryl; and grandsons, Jimmy and Jacob, both sons of Diana. He volunteered with the Head Start program, Jackson City Schools, he attended all sporting events; there was nothing finer than what his grandchildren did. He loved to hunt, fish, and look for mushrooms. He spent many, countless, hours with his nephew Carl Lucas, Jr. whom he looked more upon as a son than a nephew. His special friends, Joe and Alma Goheen, who he spent time with, talking and telling all those stories on everyone, sitting on their porch. He also would volunteer his time with Four Winds Nursing Facility, calling bingo, having dinners and telling stories. He loved people! He was able to spend time with his great-grandchildren, Natalie, Joe, Savanna, Kylie, Noah and Mason. Larry would never forget his (Sugar Babe), Danika Lewis. Larry’s life was full of love and support.

He is survived by daughters, Diana (James) Voiles of Jackson and Cheryl Israel of Jackson; brothers, Fred (Virginia) Linton of Hilliard and Pete (Jenny) Linton of Coalton; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by father, George Linton; mother, Chloe Linton; spouse, Pauline (Sharp) Linton; daughter, Malinda Linton; brother, Dave Linton; sisters, Ruby Lucas and Shirley Baisden; and granddaughter, Diana (Shelly) Voiles.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, at the Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home in Jackson with a graveside service following at Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Robert Searle officiating. Friends may call from 2 p.m.-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, at the funeral home.
