By | July 24, 2019

Thomas D. Riffle, III, age 45, of Wellston, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July 21, 2019, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.  He was born Nov. 23, 1973 in Chillicothe, Ohio to Thomas D. Riffle, Jr. and Martha Peoples Riffle Corvin.

Tommy was a 1992 graduate of Wellston High School, where he was an active member of the W.H.S. football, baseball and basketball teams.  He was an enthusiastic Cleveland Browns fan, as well as a big fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Reds.  Tommy loved his sports!  He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 9092 Men’s Auxiliary of Wellston and the Sons of the American Legion Post 371 of Wellston.

Although Tommy endured the crippling disease of muscular dystrophy most of his life, he never wanted to be treated differently than anyone else.  Tommy never let his disabilities keep him from having a good time.  He enjoyed life and always wanted those around him to have a good time as well.  At the end of his life, Tommy continued to help others by giving the gift of life through organ and tissue donation.

He is survived by his brothers, George Corvin (Terri) of Glen Roy, J.R. Corvin (Jenny) of Wellston, Robbie Corvin (Cheyenne) of Wellston, Scott Faught (Briana) of Wellston, and Nathan Faught (Angela) of Wellston; sisters, Deanna Barney (Brent) of Wellston and Courtney Hinty (Josh) of Athens; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of close friends.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Riffle, Jr. and Martha Corvin; step-father, Bob Corvin; and his grandparents, Tom and Betty Riffle and Herb and Gladys Peoples.

Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with John Pelletier, CLP officiating.  Burial will be in the Hamden Cemetery.  Online condolences can be given to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com
