Sammy D. Wilson, age 74, of Oak Hill, Ohio, passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2018 at Edgewood Manor of Wellston. He was born Jan. 6, 1944 in Oak Hill to the late Helen (Rainer) McGhee and Willard “Lightning” Wilson.

He is survived by his wife of seven years, Pauline (Trace) Wilson, of Oak Hill, Ohio; children: Sam (Janetta) Wilson, Chris Wilson, Jeff (Mary) Wilson, Tony Wilson, and Penny Wilson (Richard Baker); and a step-son, Marlin Delaney; grandchildren: Brandon Wilson, Candace Hughes, Jeremy Hughes, Hayle Wilson, Kayci Wilson, Kelsey Wilson, and Holly (L.J.) Qualls; great-grandchildren: Zoey Russell, Bub Russell, and Aria Wilson; brothers, Joe Wilson and Kenny (Katrina) McGhee, sisters: Sybil (Mike) McGhee, Karen (Charlie) Stevenson, Heidi Hively, Kelli (Pat) Browning, and Kathy (Shannon) Eldridge.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Charlie McGhee and Timmy McGhee; and grandmother, Rose Rainer.

Sammy was a U.S. Army veteran, and after that he owned and operated his own plumbing business in Texas and Georgia. He was a member of the AMVETS of Jackson, the American Legion of Wellston, and a VFW life member. He was an Ohio State fan, loved football, and loved NASCAR. He would do anything for anyone.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday Jan. 24, 2018 at 6 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson with military funeral honors following the funeral. Friends may call Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
