Martin C. Mantz

Martin C. Mantz, age 64, of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017 at his home. He was born Dec. 27, 1952 in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late Joseph Mantz, Sr. and Alice M. Cartwright Mantz.

Martin was a graduate and valedictorian of Wellston High School, Class of 1971. He went on to graduate with honors from The Ohio State University School of Pharmacy. For many years Martin was employed by, and ultimately retired from, Michelina’s of Jackson. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Wellston. Martin enjoyed reading of all types, but his true passion was cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lori E. Baker Mantz; sons, Martin Christopher Mantz, Jr. of Washington C.H., Bradley Scott Mantz of Jackson and Schuyler Lloyd Mantz of Wellston; four grandchildren, Paige Nichole Mantz, Alyssa Ann Mantz, Aubree Diane Mantz and Gabrielle Sophiagrace Mantz; former daughter-in-law, Tiffany Tripp; sisters, Nancy Oiler and Marilyn Phillips, both of Wellston; nieces and nephews, Kevin Oiler (Joy), Adrienne Phillips, Penny Phillips, Linda Luz, and Jody Mantz; and sisters-in-law, Tawnie Sirback (Donald), Wendy Copas (Raymond), June Branscom (Scott), and Teresa Howell (Jeff).

Along with his parents, Martin was preceded in death by his two brothers, Joe Mantz and Dick Mantz; niece, Colleen Oiler Vicars; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Ruth Baker.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston with a celebration of life service following at 1 p.m. with Pastor David McManis officiating. In keeping with Martin’s wishes, cremation will follow the service.
