Mae F. Payne Gueltig Ring

Mae F. Payne Gueltig Ring, 92, of Wellston, Ohio, passed away on Friday morning, Dec. 7, 2018, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was born at Glen Avenue in Sciotoville, Ohio, March 9, 1926, to the late James and Audrey Cahoon Payne.

At the age of two, she moved to Jackson County. She worked for Western Union during WW II in Dayton, Ohio, and Chicago, Illinois. She married her first husband, Ralph Gueltig, in 1946. She attended art classes at the University of Rio Grande, and water coloring was her favorite hobby.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Gueltig, in 1959; two brothers, Raymond Payne and James Payne; a sister, Alma Johnson; second husband, Jerry J. Ring; and a grandson, John F. Diddle.

Surviving are three sons, Ralph (Elaine) Gueltig II of Rutland, Ohio; Gerald John (Julie) Ring of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and James A. Ring of Wakefield, Ohio; two daughters, Victoria (Steve) Faulkner of Dayton Ohio, and Shirley (Jerry) Wilson of Nelsonville, Ohio; a brother, Kenneth Payne, of Marion, Ohio; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at 2 p.m.

Services will be officiated by Bob Golden and burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery. A reception will follow at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, East 1st St., Wellston, Ohio.
