Lyndall Maxine Mapes

Lyndall Maxine Mapes, age 95, passed away at the Jenkins Memorial Care Center in Wellston, Ohio on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. She was born on August 28, 1920 in Jackson to the late Reese and Clara (Ridge) Thomas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Arden Mapes, a brother, David Wayne Thomas, and a son-in-law, Roy Chaffin.

She is survived by her children: Lynn Chaffin of Jackson and Marva (Jim) Cowles of Lancaster, Ohio; six grandchildren: Pam Angel of Franklin, Tennessee, Mitchell (Marcia) Shumate of Jackson, Ohio, Cheri McGinnis of Tampa Florida, Adam (Tia) Chaffin of Columbus, Ohio, Chris (Heather) Cowles of Delaware, Ohio and Cory (Emily) Cowles of Brooklyn, New York. Twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren also survive.

She was a homemaker that loved to sew and play euchre. She was also heavily involved with the Jackson County Republican Party.

No calling hours will be observed. A graveside service will be held at Fairmount Cemetery in Jackson at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2016. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home.
