Jerry Dean Stewart

Jerry Dean Stewart, age 63, of Jackson, passed away at his home after several years battling ALS Friday, Jan. 13, 2017. He was born April 8, 1953 in McArthur, Ohio to Phyllis (Graham) Stewart and the late William Stewart.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cindy (Jones) Stewart, of Jackson; sons, Brad Stewart of Jackson and Shawn Stewart of Hilliard; two granddaughters, Whitney and Allison Stewart; and siblings, Dale (Carolyn) Stewart, Randy Stewart, Tina (Jeff) King, all of Wellston. Also surviving are brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Jim Allie, Greg and Julie Fannin, Jerry and Jody Mullins; mother-in-law, Lou Jones and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends that he loved dearly.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Gerald “Buddy” Jones.

Jerry graduated from Wellston High School in 1971. He worked for 23 years in Coal Mining with the Stewart Coal Company and starting in 1996 at the Atomic Plant until 2015. He was a member of the Wesley Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2017 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson with Pastor Jerry Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.
