Glendon T. Nichols, age 78, of Jackson, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was born in Jackson County, Ohio on March 3, 1941 to the late Robert and Bessie (Brown) Nichols. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Nichols, and two brothers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Vivian (Oiler) Nichols; a son, Chad (Deana) Nichols; daughters: Kimberly (Jim) Collins, Rachel (John) Zink and Missy (Tim) Gilliland. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, along with one brother and two sisters. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Glen was employed as a maintenance worker at Merillat for 23 years before his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking and crafts. He and Vivian ran a craft shop after he retired.
Funeral services will be held at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, with Pastor Butch Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Byer Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
