Christopher, \u201cChris\u201d J. Smith, age 47, formerly of Oak Hill, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 unexpectedly at his home in Melrose, Florida. He was born October 29, 1970 in Kentucky to Viola (Wilson) Boggs.<\/p>\n
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Kristine (Adkins) Smith, of Oak Hill; son; Landen Smith, of Melrose, Florida; step daughters, Hannah and Brooklynn Mollett, both of Oak Hill; step father, Randall \u201cPete\u201d Boggs; sister, Drema (Greg) Leonard, of Oak Hill; brother, Randall \u201cPetey\u201d Boggs (Chris Mullen), of Columbus; special friends and co-workers, Richard Lester and Pat Alsop. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. <\/p>\n
He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jack Wilson and grandmother, Julia Wilson. <\/p>\n
Chris was an Army veteran, serving in both Gulf Wars, Desert Storm and Desert Shield. He then worked for Gates Elegant\u2019 in Gainesville Florida for the last 23 years. <\/p>\n
Friends may call Monday, July 30, 2018 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill from 11-1 PM. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM with Dale Adkins officiating.
