Joseph A. Childers Sr., age 56, of Patriot, Ohio went to be with the Lord on June 9, 2013 in Gallipolis, Ohio after his long battle with cancer. Joseph was born in Oak Hill, Ohio on February 1, 1957 to the late Mary E. \u201cWallace\u201d Childers and Raymond C. Childers. He was a fun loving, free spirit.<\/p>\n
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Tammy \u201cThompson\u201d Childers; son, Joseph A. Childers, Jr.; daughter, Tammy E. Childers; honorary children, Shane French, Joseph M. Childers, Brian Sampsel and Dawn Fulk; grandchildren, Jayden L. Childers, Elizabeth L. Childers, Meghan McGowan and Michael Queen; father, Raymond C. Childers; brothers, Raymond G. Edward, John, and Doug Childers; sister, Jean Palmer; several nieces and nephews; and honorary family, Daryl Stephens and family.<\/p>\n
He is preceded in death by his mommy, Mary E. \u201cWallace\u201d Childers; sisters, Becky and Linda Childers; cousin \u201cbrother,\u201d Mike Metzler.<\/p>\n
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home in Oak Hill. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends can call from 11 a.m. \u2014 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the funeral home.<\/p>\n
