He was born in Jackson, Ohio November 1, 1926 to the late Albert and Esther (Ross) Clay. He worked for DT&amp;I and Grand Trunk Railroad for 45 years; he was a veteran of World War II; he loved bluegrass music and camping.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by brother, Lloyd (Pat) Clay of Jackson; son-in-law, Robin Meter; daughter, Karen Clay of Napoleon, Ohio; step daughter, Cindy Allen (Basil) Noblet of Indianapolis, Indiana; two grandchildren, Gary (Michelle) Meter and Alicia Meter, both from Napoleon; eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and special friend Margaret Haynes; and two aunts, Kathleen Angles and Frances J. Tatro.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Doris Downey and wife, Mary Allen Clay; daughter, Claudia Meter; sisters, Betty Sherman and Wanda Riegel; brothers, Charles and Floyd Clay; and sisters-in-law, Donna Clay and Shirley Clay.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at the Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home in Jackson with Rev. Tim Keaton officiating and burial to follow in Fairmount Cemetery.
