Richard E. Hughes, age 70, currently from Wilkesville, Ohio, formerly of Oak Hill, Ohio passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021, at 5:30 a.m. at Ohio State University James Cancer Center Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born October 31, 1951, in Oak Hill to the late William Hughes, Sr. and Helen (Vititoe) Hughes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Frances (McCain) Hughes; brother, William Hughes Jr., and niece, Sharron (Hughes) Beatty. He is survived by his son, Richard Hughes Jr.; Pam (Bill) Bowles; grandchildren: Jessica and BJ Bowles; sister-in-law, Sue Hughes; brothers-in-law: Kenny and Jack Wallace; niece, Patricia Evans; nephew, Scott (Jennifer) Hughes; and great niece, Katie (Josh) McElory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Richard grew up in Blackfork. He loved to hunt and fish. He was a man of few words, but everyone knew he loved his kids, grandkids and his dog, Rascal. He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything. He is now with his wife, mother, father, brother and niece, having a ball. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Friends may call Monday, December 20, 2021, from 11 a.m. \u2013 1 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Stan Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Horeb Cemetery.
