Bari (Peoples) Hughes, 73, of Jackson, Ohio was called upon to join the most elite of all choirs after a long battle of declining health. Surrounded by her Earthly loved ones, she was welcomed into Heaven on Saturday, July 17, where she knew her son, Jeremy, would be waiting on her. She was born August 9, 1947, in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late Charles \u201cTom\u201d and Virginia \u201cJenny\u201d Jenkins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She is survived by her devoted husband of 24 years: Paul \u201cBlaine\u201d Hughes; daughters Shawna Davis (Eric Granderson) and Denita (Mike) Rhea, of Jackson; and step-son Phillip (Kendall) Hughes of Virginia; grandchildren JT and Bret, Devon (Chantelle), Maekayla (Keith), Paige (Austin), Christian, Jordan, Kyla, Camry, Kelsey (Christofer); and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Dorman-Haynes; nephews Rob, Brandon and Ryan Dorman; and many close family and friends; and we can\u2019t leave out her beloved cats, Shuggy and Honey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bari was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson for over forty years. She enjoyed singing in the church choir as well as performing as a soloist. She loved baking and was known for her apple pies and has won numerous first place ribbons for the Apple Festival pie baking contest. She loved watching her grandkids in all of their activities and spent countless hours in bleachers cheering them on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Friends may call Tuesday, July 20 from 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Jackson. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 21 at the church. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Coalton, Ohio. There will be a fellowship dinner at the church immediately following the service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a bible be purchased in her name, or memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church, 35 Broadway St., Jackson, Ohio 45640 or to the Jackson County Dog Pound, 275 Portsmouth St., Jackson, Ohio 45640.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
