{"id":10284,"date":"2019-12-24T09:47:24","date_gmt":"2019-12-24T14:47:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jacksoncountyohiogen.com\/members\/?p=10284"},"modified":"2019-12-25T09:48:13","modified_gmt":"2019-12-25T14:48:13","slug":"floyd-george-loomis-jr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jacksoncountyohiogen.com\/members\/2019\/12\/24\/floyd-george-loomis-jr\/","title":{"rendered":"Floyd \u201cGeorge\u201d Loomis, Jr."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Floyd \u201cGeorge\u201d Loomis, Jr., age 95, of Jackson passed away Friday, Dec. 20, 2019 at home surrounded by family.&nbsp; He was born Jan. 2, 1924 in Logan, Ohio to the late Floyd Sr. and Blanche Vey Arnold Loomis.&nbsp; He graduated from Logan High School in 1942 and shortly after he enlisted in the United State Navy, serving on active duty for 3-\u00bd years from 1942 \u2013 1946.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While enlisted, he served with the Pacific Theatre and was a 1st class petty officer.&nbsp; After his service in WW II, he came back to Jackson and married his wife, Carol, Dec. 3, 1948 and worked at Buckeye Mill.&nbsp; He started early in his career as a self-employed contractor with his father and eventually started working for Jenkins Building, building houses throughout Jackson. He also worked for A.J. Stockmeister and at Manpower School.&nbsp; In 1951 he was called back to active duty during the Korean War, having served on the Icebreaker&nbsp;<em>U.S.S.
