Robert D. Steele, 90, of Coldwater, passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at the Community Health Center of Branch County.<\/p>\n
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Free Methodist Church in Coldwater. Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater, Michigan (ph. 517-278-2795).<\/p>\n
Robert was born December 8, 1921 in Jackson, Ohio to Haslett and Ollie (Waller) Steele. He married Peggy Jean Buckley on September 26, 1948 in Jackson, Ohio.<\/p>\n
Bob served proudly in the U.S. Marines in WW II. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Coldwater. Bob had worked as a Food Inspector for over 30 years for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and worked with City Athletics at the Recreation Department with fifth- and sixth-grade basketball and flag football for many years. He was an avid Ohio State football fan and thoroughly enjoyed hunting and golf.<\/p>\n
He is survived by his wife Peggy, son Craig (Althea) Steele of Coldwater, daughter Debbie (Jamie) Stuart of Shelby Twp., MI and granddaughter Carrie Steele of Coldwater.<\/p>\n
He was preceded in death by his parents.<\/p>\n
