Dickens"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Ronald G. Dickens, age 78, of Wellston, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.&nbsp; He was born April 30, 1941 in Kayford, West Virginia, to the late Charles Edward Dickens and Myrtle M. Frye Varian.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ron was a former employee of Frick-Gallagher Manufacturing in Wellston for several years.&nbsp; He was a member of the Wellston Church of God, and enjoyed ministering and singing, along with his wife, Brenda, at local nursing facilities.&nbsp; Ron loved reading his Bible, working word-search puzzles and watching game shows and Gunsmoke on T.V.&nbsp; He was a very caring person who was a generous contributor to many Christian organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ron is survived by his daughters, Kathy Dotson (Jeff) of Athens and Teresa Stewart (Jack) of Wellston; step-daughter, Kim Schauer (Jeff) of Wellston; siblings, Pat Pettry (Willis), Donna Grounds, Margie King, Bill Dickens and Jim Dickens, all of West Virginia, and Becky Arnold (Bill), Charley Dickens and Phillip Dickens, all of Florida; along with 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson.&nbsp; Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins, including special cousin, David Rogers of Cleveland.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides his parents, Ron was preceded in death by the parents who raised him, Charles and Marie Dickens; his wife of 28 years, Brenda Bishop Dickens, who passed away on June 14, 2019; son, Buddy Dickens; and sisters, June Louise Dickens and Phyllis Neary.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Calling hours will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.\u00a0 Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 1 p.m. with Pastor Barry Benson officiating.\u00a0 Burial will be in the Ridgewood Cemetery. \u00a0Online condolences can be sent to the family at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ronald G.
