Wilma Bishop

Wilma Bishop, age 96, of Wellston, passed away Monday morning, Jan. 15, 2018 at Doctor’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was born Oct. 31, 1921 in Jackson County, Ohio to the late Marion H. Perkins and Katie Flo Reed Perkins.

Wilma was a 1939 graduate of Wellston High School. She was a telephone operator at the former General Telephone Company in Jackson and then later retired from Verizon Phone Company. Wilma was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wellston and she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Skeens of Columbus and Cheryl Gray (Robert) of Springfield; grandchildren, William Skeens, Jr. (Kristin), Teresa Slone (Terry), Eric Skeens (Tracy) and Amie McReynolds; great-grandchildren, Matthew Skeens, Jenna Skeens, Ashley Banion (Vince), Terry Slone, Taylor Skeens and Lexie Skeens; great-great-granddaughter, Everly Banion; and nephews, Bill Perkins and Tony Perkins, both of Wellston.

Besides her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Forrest Earl Bishop in 2005; sister, Eileen Perkins; brother, Bill Perkins and son-in-law, William Skeens, Sr.

Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. with Pastor David Kelly officiating. Burial will be in the Ridgewood Cemetery. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com
