William “Bill” Hughes Jr.

William “Bill” Hughes Jr., age 72, of Oak Hill, Ohio, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Holzer Medical Center of Gallipolis, surrounded by his beloved family. He was born Jan. 26, 1947 to the late William and Helen (Vititoe) Hughes in Gallipolis, Ohio.

 Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the 77th and 594th Transportation Company during Vietnam.

 He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Katherine “Sue” Hughes; his three children: Sharon (Cliff) Beatty, William “Scott” (Jennifer) Hughes, and Patricia Evans; granddaughter Katie (Josh) McElroy; brother, Richard Hughes; brothers-in-law, Jack Wallace and Kenny Wallace; as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He also leaves behind his fur babies, Pepper and Princess.

 Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Frances Hughes; as well as six uncles and an aunt.

Friends may call at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home, 202 W. Maple Ave., Oak Hill, Ohio on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services with military honors will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Stan Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Horeb Cemetery.
