Wayne Brown, age 67, of Wellston, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2020, at his home. He was born May 6, 1953 in Wellston, Ohio, son of the late Joseph Ray “Jack” Brown and Mary Oma Wiseman Brown.
Wayne was a retired construction worker and member of Ohio Laborers’ Local #83 out of Portsmouth. He was a simple man whose family came first in his life. An outdoorsman, Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He also enjoyed watching and rooting for the Cincinnati Reds and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carole L. Stewart Brown; children, Rodney Brown (Kim) of Wellston, Julie Williams (Joey) of Wellston and Brittany Waugh (Alex) of Gallipolis; grandchildren, Payton Marquis (Chad), Courtney Carper (Steven), Cameron Williams (Kelsi Martin) and Roddy Brown (Brianna Hunt); great-grandchildren, Landon Carper, Brantley Carper, Lauryn Marquis and Blakely Williams; sisters, Linda Nickell (Melvin) of McArthur and Frances Burt of Jackson; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his siblings, Everett Brown, Jackie Brown, Norvell Brown, Janet Newkirk and Wilma Smith; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred and Alma Stewart.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral with Pastor Carl Rose officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery. For those attending, we ask that you follow the Ohio Department of Health’s guidelines for social distancing at this time.
