Walter O. Simpson

Walter O. Simpson, age 89, of Oak Hill, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Holzer Medical Center, Jackson. He was born March 29, 1926 in Wellston, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Jane (Leach) Simpson; his first wife, Marie Simpson; two daughters, Phyllis Napper and Barbara Brown; four brothers, three sisters and three great-grandchildren, Bryce Coleman, Jessie Coleman and Ellen Coleman.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Louise (Adkins) Simpson; 12 children and step-children: Robert Simpson, Becky (Butch) Eblin, Gary (Diane) Simpson, Dave (Laura) Simpson, Sharon (Denney) Moore, Carlene (Tommy) Howard, Pamela (John) Hamilton, Trisha (Greg) Young, Cindy (George) Seward, Steve (Tina) Nichols, Edward (Flo) Nichols and Jeff (Amanda) Nichols; 34 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Simpson and Amos Simpson and sister, Linda Delaney.

Walter was a WW II Army Veteran; a 32nd degree Mason, and a Grange and 4-H member.

Friends will be received at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home Monday, August 17, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 18, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Sammy Hale officiating. Burial will follow at the Winchester Cemetery with service by the Disabled American Veterans, Jackson County Chapter 45.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 597, Portsmouth, Ohio or to the American Cancer Society.
