Virginia Miller

Virginia H. Miller (Moore) entered her heavenly rest December 26 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Ginny was born in Oak Hill, Dec. 4, 1921 to late Noah and Phoebe (Woods) Moore.

Ginny was preceded in death by husband of 67 years, Red Miller; infant son, Dean Charles Miller; brothers Elza (Darlene), David (Martha) and Vernal (Dot); grandsons David Knisley and David Mustard. Also preceding her were in-laws Frank and Annie Miller; sisters-in-law Lois, Juanita and Susie Miller; brother-in-law Glenn Miller; and stepfather Asa Carter.

Ginny graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1939. She was married to Red Miller in Sept. 30, 1939 in Greenup, Ky. To this marriage was born 7 children: John (Phyllis Hughes) of Greenfield, Dean Charles (deceased), Betty (Speed) Dillon of Gahanna, Steve (Mary Hess) of Jackson, Sally (Lee) Corbett of Jackson, David Miller of West Palm Beach, FL. and Paul (Patty) Miller of Vernon, FL. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and close family friends Jimbo and Linda Comer and CJ and Cheryl Brown.

In addition to her children she is survived by her brothers-in-law Herbert and Dean Miller and many nieces and nephews.

Ginny believed her calling in life was to be a wife and mother. She worked tirelessly to care for her family, neighbors and friends. She could be seen in the audience of any important event in all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s lives.

As a child she attended church and eventually led members of her family to join her. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. Ginny worked in the nursery care for many years. She was a member of the Women’s Sunday school class and Mission Society and a youth leader She cherished the many good friends she had through the years at Faith and so appreciated all the loving care her church family offered her during her later years.

Traveling with her group of friends and reading were hobbies she enjoyed.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Faith United Methodist Church in Oak Hill with Rev. Pat King officiating. Burial will follow in C.M. Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, December 29, 2013 from 2-6 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill.
