Violet Jean Davis

Violet Jean Davis, age 74, of Lima, passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2017 at the Lima Memorial Hospital in Lima, Ohio. She was born Dec. 7, 1942 in Wellston, Ohio, daughter of the late Charles Thomas McNeely and Sylvia Mae Vititoe McNeely.

Violet attended Wellston High School. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and homemaker, and she was a caregiver of many. She loved to cook, go to garage sales and make crafts. Violet, known to almost everyone as Maw Davis, fed every kid in the neighborhood. She was always loving and caring and never knew a stranger.

She is survived by her husband, Dannie Davis, whom she married on Aug. 24, 1967; children, Clifford Vititoe (Donna) of Hamden, Charles Vititoe (Evette) of Kansas City, KS, Donald Vititoe of Lima, Penny Jacklin (Keith) of Grove City, Melissa Vititoe of Lima, Dannie Davis III (Brenda) of Lima and Kenny Davis (Mandi) of Grove City; sisters, Mary Richards (Robert) of Lima and Helen Perry of Wellston, along with 21 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Besides her parents, Violet was preceded in death by children, Robert Fisher and Dana Davis; and siblings, Rosie Jonas, Paul Scarrett, Charles McNeely and Wilma McNeely.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 12 to 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home and burial will be in the Ridgewood Cemetery.
