Viola Marie Chesser

Viola Marie Chesser, age 78, of Oak Hill, passed away Friday, March 10, 2017 at Heartland of Jackson. She was born March 9, 1939 in Oak Hill to the late Cecil and Clara (Radabaugh) Adkins.

She is survived by her children, William “Billy” (June) Phillips of Oak Hill, Tonda (Allen) Maynard of South Webster, Tonyhttps://jacksoncountyohiogen.com/members/wp-admin/post-new.php#edit_timestamp (Marsha) Phillips of Jackson, Aaron (Valerie) Chesser of Jackson, Paula Chesser of South Webster, and Tammy Chesser Moore of Gallipolis; siblings, Louise Simpson, Zelma Clarkson, Marilyn Downard, Thelma Evans, Wyoma Hatfield, Foster Adkins and Rita Myers; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Chesser; and siblings, Ellen Reese, Chester Adkins, Oscar Adkins and Vencil Adkins.

She sang in a well-known group known as “The Spiritual Sounds” for numerous years. She attended the Hickory Grove Church for several years. She will be missed by her family and all who knew her.

Friends may call Tuesday, March 14, 2017 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the Hickory Grove Church in Oak Hill with ministers Paul Bartrum and George Cade officiating.
