Our loving mother and grandmother, Verna Marie Stiltner, age 76, of Jackson, Ohio, received her wings on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2020.
She was a graduate of Oak Hill High School and attended the Old Country Church Tabernacle. She worked at Dick Brown’s fruit farm and Oak Hill Hospital until retiring from Heartland of Jackson.
Verna enjoyed sewing, quilting, tending to her flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids.
She married Sol Stiltner on Dec. 1, 1962. They were married 48 years before his passing in 2010. Together they raised four children and resided in the local area their whole married life.
Verna is survived by three sons: Scott (Karla) Stiltner of Oak Hill, Ohio, Michael (Lori) Stiltner of Jackson, Ohio, and Brian (Lena) Stiltner of Jackson, Ohio; seven grandchildren: Aaron (Rosi) Stiltner of Jackson, Ohio, Felicia (Bryan) Profitt of Jackson, Ohio, Craig Stiltner (Rachel Lewis) of Oak Hill, Ohio, Ashley (Andrew) Christman of High Point, North Carolina, Celeste Stiltner (Lane Burdine) of Jackson, Ohio, and Evan Carter and Eli Carter, both of Jackson, Ohio; seven great-grandchildren: Landon, Kamden, Cohen, and Reagan Profitt of Jackson, Ohio, Maddy Conley and Chandler Hall of Jackson, Ohio, and Addyson Taylor Christman of High Point, North Carolina; brother, Don Moore of North Carolina; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Dorothy Moore; her husband, Sol Stiltner; daughter, Tina Marie Carter; brothers, Floyd George, Jim, and Frank Moore; and sister, Gertrude Sharp.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020 from 12 to 3 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Bryon Carmon officiating. Burial will follow at Horeb Cemetery. Per CDC guidelines and governor recommendations, everyone is asked to wear a mask while indoors and practice proper social distancing procedures and guidelines.
