Teresa R. “Terri” Weakley, age 69, of Wellston, passed away Thursday, Aug. 19 at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston, Ohio. She was born Aug. 29, 1951, in Dover, New Jersey, daughter of the late Robert K. Johnson, Sr. and Lorraine Ann Correll Johnson. Terri graduated from Winter Park High School in Winter Park, Florida with the class of 1969. She later received a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech and Hearing from Wright State University. Terri retired from the United States Postal Service and faithfully served both Wellston and Hamden as a mail carrier for over 27 years. She was a very giving person who was known to go out of her way to take care of and look after her “friends and family” on her mail route. Terri’s happy and witty personality always made everyone laugh. She enjoyed working in her yard, gardening and making everyone feel special. Terri also enjoyed music and had a beautiful soprano voice that she shared with the community as a soloist and in both church and community choirs. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wellston, where she served as a church deacon.

Terri is survived by her daughters, Sarah Gray-Hammond and Jessica Fain (Jeffrey), and grandchildren, Hadley and Avery Fain and Bryce and Brant Hammond, all of Wellston; also surviving are her siblings, Debra Brown, Robert K. Johnson, Jr. (Jen) and Steven Johnson (Kristi), all of Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton Hunter Weakley in 2011; and her granddaughter, Aubrey Fain.

Terri requested cremation follow her passing. A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, Aug. 22, at 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Wellston with Pastor John Pelletier officiating. The family will greet friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Terri’s name can be given to the Jackson County Dog Pound, c/o Jackson County Commissioners, 275 Portsmouth St., Jackson, Ohio 45640 or Humane Society of Jackson County, P.O.
