Steven R. Betz

Steven R. Betz, age 67, of Jackson, Ohio, formerly of Gallia County, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Trails End.

Steve was born in Torrance, California on May 14, 1948. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert S. and Virginia K. Betz; and brother, Scott Betz.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy; one son, Clint (Amanda) Betz of Chillicothe; one daughter, Christy (Jerod) Haning of Jackson; four grandchilden, Allie Kuhner, Logan and Lauren Betz, and Kinnison Haning; and one sister, Bonita (Mickey) Oliver of Point Pleasant, WV.

Steve was a graduate of Gallia Academy High School, served in the U. S. Army from 1968 to 1971 and was a Vietnam veteran. He was an avid entrepreneur and owned and operated Betz Honda Sales in Gallipolis and Indian Creek Golf in Rio Grande. He enjoyed building race cars, fishing, breakfast with his buddies, and spending time with his family.

Friends may call at the Willis Funeral Home Tuesday, June 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. A Masonic service by Morning Dawn Lodge #7 will be held at 7 p.m. after visitation. Graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 17 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dale Geiser at Mound Hill Cemetery. There will be military graveside services by the Gallia County Funeral Detail.
