Steven L. Kearns, age 68, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2015 at his home. He was born October 30, 1946 to Belvia Kearns Akers and the late Emil Kearns.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Claudette (Boles) Kearns of Jackson, Ohio; his children: Lorinda (Matt) Newkirk of Jackson, Ohio, Steven Brad (Sheila) Kearns, Phillip Matthew (Pam) Strawser of Knoxville, Tennessee, Beau Shannon (Susan) Kearns of Jackson, Ohio, and Allissa Belvia (Andy) Bower of Chillicothe, Ohio; grandchildren: Lora, Tyler, and Michael Newkirk, Devan and Alexandria Kearns, Trevor, Taryn, and Taylor Strawser, Coleman and Steven Kearns, and Benjamin Bower; as well as six great-grandchildren.
Steven retired in 2001 from GTE/Verizon. He loved hunting and the outdoors and from this love came his interest in taxidermy, which he did for many years. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play football.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 17, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. A service will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Rick Christman officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
