Shirley Whitt

Shirley Mae (Davis) Whitt, age 74, of Oak Hill passed away peacefully Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021 at Four Winds Community in Jackson. She was born October 14, 1946 in Oak Hill to the late Steve and Mae (Dunn) Davis.

Shirley is survived by her two daughters: Julia (Ronnie) Johnson and Angie (Mike) Hill; grandchildren, Lacie (Brandon) Stumbo, Brooklyn and Angel Hill, Katelyn (Tony) Gillam, Christopher and Blayke Whitt; great grandchildren, Gunner Shephard and Alaina Gillam; sisters, Nancy (late Bob) McCoy and Karen (Dan) Dobbins; and brother, Danny Davis. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Robert Whitt; her son, Christopher Moses Whitt; and brother, Jim Davis.

Shirley was a Christian and attended the Trinity Wesleyan Church most of her life. She worked many years as the children’s librarian at the Oak Hill Public Library until her retirement.  She loved to spend time with her family, going out to eat or just setting on her porch. 

Friends may call Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 5-7 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill.  Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastors Herman Stewart and Dave Staiger officiating.  Burial will follow in C.M.
