Shirley J. Elkins, age 68, of Wellston, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at the Holzer Medical Center in Jackson. She was born May 3, 1947 in Los Angeles, California to the late Allen Roman Browning and Lucille Marcella Vititoe Browning.

Shirley was a loving homemaker, who enjoyed working puzzle books and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the American Legion Post 371 Ladies Auxiliary in Wellston.

Shirley is survived by children, Michelle Gaskins of Worthington, Shawn Spencer of McArthur and Jack Elkins of Wellston; several grandchildren, including Jack Elkins, Jr., Angelina Nicole Ann Elkins and Rocxzan Jordan Elkins; special friend, Morgan Sword; sister, Rosie Queen Lowe of Wellston; brother, Allen Browning, Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by 10 children; sisters, Joann McNellis, Marcella Browning and Mary Fisher; and brothers, Homer Browning and Robert Browning.

Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home, with John Pelletier officiating.
