By | November 13, 2016

Our beautiful Mother Shirley Ann (Altherr) Howell, left the bonds of this mortal earth as she fell asleep November 10, 2016 surrounded by love and her family. Shirley entered this world June 23, 1935 the daughter of Frederick E. Altherr and Kathryn N. (Whaley) Altherr Shumate who predecease her.

Shirley was a teenager when she established her faith and lived her life serving God. Shirley also met and married the love of her life Jim F. In addition to her parents, Shirley is predeceased by her husband Jim; sisters Juanita Loftis, Ruby Altherr, and Helen Claire Altherr; daughter Julie (Howell) Pence; grandson David F. Mayhew and great-great grandsons Finn and Wyatt Hodge.

Shirley is survived by brother Fred Altherr and sister Polly (Altherr) Sinclair Cavey; son David (Kathy) Howell, daughters Lisa (Kevin) Gregg, and Danielle (Daniel) Chandler. Grandchildren: Randy (Becky) Pence, Jordan (Lavern) Mayhew, Brett “Adam” Mayhew, Ashley (Fred) Ray, Chris Snyder, Eric Snyder, Kimberly (Jeremy) Thompson, Tiffany Chandler, Brody Chandler, and Pierre (Melinda) Morgan. Shirley is also survived by a multitude of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who she loved and had very special relationships with nieces Cheryl Levite, Becky Loftis and Deena Baker. In addition, she leaves behind numerous friends and people she loved.

Our mother’s absence will be felt until we see her again in eternity, until that time we will honor her memory and live to make her proud of her life’s work…us.
