Sandra Richards Adair, age 74, of Jackson, passed away Friday, Aug. 13 at her home. She had dealt many years with the trials and complications of Type 1 Diabetes. She was born April 18, 1947, to the late Dr. John Richards and Polly Richards. She was the oldest of 5 children.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Adair, her parents, and her mother-in-law Garnett Adair. She is survived by sons Todd Richards, Josh Kern, and Zachary Kern; brothers, Jim, John, and Jeff Richards; sister, Linda Richards; several grandchildren; and a host of many good friends.

Sandy was raised in California. She loved to help her father in his Pediatric practice and became a nurse and caregiver. She loved to play soccer as a goalie, and also coached girls’ soccer. She met her husband, Larry, in Davis, California. They both loved to play guitar and sing. They later moved to Jackson, where they helped care for their mother, Garnett Adair. She was also a caregiver and helper to several people in the Jackson area. For many years, Sandy was a newspaper carrier. She prided herself as the “paper lady” and tried to always give excellent service to her customers. She watched out for many of her customers and considered them all her friends. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church on Cove Road in Jackson, where she attended regularly. She loved The Lord with all of her heart. She loved all of her church family and singing in the choir. She always had joy in her heart. Sandy had a bubbly personality, which was infectious and uplifting to anyone that crossed her path. She had a great love and caring nature for all animals, which included her many dogs and cats over the years.

Per Sandy’s wishes, her body is being donated to science research and education. A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date. Donations in her memory can be made to a charity of your choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.mayhew-brownfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are by the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home in Jackson.
