Samuel W. “Sammy” Marcum

Samuel W. “Sammy” Marcum, age 60, of Oak Hill, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Edgewood Manor in Wellston. He was born August 17, 1955 in Oak Hill to Verna (Woods) Marcum and the late Samuel “Captain” Marcum.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his former wife, Susan Marcum, of Bidwell; son, Brandan (Amanda) Allen, of Jackson; step daughter, Michelle (Todd) Looney, of Vinton; stepson Bobby (April) Looney, of Vinton; 11 grandchildren; sisters, Stacey (Ronald) Bond, of Jackson, Cindy (Allen) Rutherford, of Patriot; niece, Jenna Bond, of Jackson and several other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father.

Sammy was a Vietnam Veteran with the U.S. Air Force, a graduate of the class of 1974 and a bluegrass musician. He was a vendor at the Wheelersburg flea market for over 25 years.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2016 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill with Rev. Fred Crabtree officiating. Burial will follow in Horeb Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
