Ruth LaVonne King, age 85, of Oak Hill, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020 at Holzer in Gallipolis, Ohio. She was born Oct. 19, 1934 in Blackfork, Ohio to the late Emory and Stella (Barnhart) King.

Ruth was an employee at the Cambria Clay store in Blackfork, William’s Shoe Factory in Portsmouth, and the Goodyear Company in Jackson.

She is survived by her son, Ricky King of Columbus, Ohio and Pamela Scott of Jackson, Ohio; seven grandchildren: Ricky King II, Estill King, Renee Wilson, William King, Jeff Shockley, Kellsey King, and Amber Scott; as well as 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers: Wendall “Hank” King, Wilber “Bus” King, William King, Loren King, and Lester King; and three sisters: Helen Ward, Dorothy Hale, and Ilene King.

She would like to let you know that her work here on Earth is done. She received a call, an offer you can’t refuse. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. There will be lots of hugging and laughter and much to catch up on. There will be no place for sadness and tears, only joy and happiness.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020 from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will immediately follow at Bethel Cemetery. Per CDC guidelines and governor recommendations, everyone is asked to wear a mask while indoors and practice proper social distancing procedures. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com
