Robert F. Rice

Robert F. Rice of Wheelersburg, Ohio (formerly of Jackson, Ohio), passed away on December 4, 2015 at the age of 90 in Columbus, Ohio after a brief illness. He was born at Salyersville, Kentucky on March 13, 1925 to the late Marvin Rice and Orpha Gladys Conley.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Carrie Marie Rice; his stepfather, Dudley Green and brothers and sisters: Bert Green, Nettie Summers, Martha Literal, Dudley Green, Della Chapman, L.J. Green, Danny Green, Thelma Jean Rice, Patty Jo Green and Sandy Sowders.

Robert is survived by three children: Robert J. (Patricia) Rice of Wheelersburg, Ohio, Cathy M. Rice of Franklin, Tenn., and Roberta Kay Rice (John) Bannen of New Castle, Pa. Also surviving are grandchildren: Michael D. Rice, Jennifer L. (Joel) Stidham, Courtney J. (Cecil) Riggs, Patrick Bailey, Bryan Bailey, Robert (Sylvia) Petro and Justin (Deborah) Petro. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters: Sarah Andrews, Fanny Bregant, Marva Richards, Mary Ann Whaley, Sue House, Bill Green, Paul Green and Vicky Stewart, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Robert was a mechanic, retired from Gill Chevrolet in McArthur, Ohio. Robert enjoyed visiting with his family and many friends. He was a longtime member of the Jackson, Ohio Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was baptized April 4, 1998.

Friends and family may call at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home in Jackson, Ohio on Saturday, December 12, 2015. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m., with funeral service to follow immediately at 2 p.m., with Brother Joe Wollam officiating. A private burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Jackson, Ohio, at the family’s convenience.
