Rita Ann Gilbert

Rita Ann (Maloy) Gilbert, age79, passed away June 5th, 2014 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana, following a brief illness. She was born July 11, 1934 to the late Wade and Helen Maloy. She grew up in the Southeastern Ohio town of Wellston, where she was a 1952 graduate of Wellston High School.

She entered the Navy immediately following graduation and served briefly from 1952 to 1953. She married Gerald S. Gilbert on September 12, 1953 before moving to Rushville, Indiana, where she raised her family.

She was an employee of Ginn Book and Ford Motor Companies in Indianapolis, retiring from Ford in 1989 after 20 years of employment. She enjoyed ceramics and camping. She loved to watch movies and was an avid reader.

Rita is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gerald; daughters Janice (Tom) Hermann of Glenwood, Jennifer (Tom) Query of Shirley; sons, Jeff (Susan) Gilbert of Mooresville and Greg (Robin) Gilbert of Laurel. Ten grandchildren; Sarah (Rob) Kleeman, Jessica Hermann, Emily Hermann, Sam Hermann, Lauren (Bob) Waugh, Lindsey Query, Alexis Query, Dustin (Pam) Gilbert, Kyleigh Gilbert, Samantha Gilbert, and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Tommy (Nancy) Maloy of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.

Calling will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville, Indiana. Services will be private.
