Richard W. Stewart, 80, of Chillicothe, died 2:40 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2012 at his residence following a brief illness.

He was born October 15, 1931, in Glenroy, Ohio to the late Sherman “Pat” and Mary Alice Nichols Stewart.

Surviving are children, Robert (Anne) Stewart, of Grove City, Wes (Joely) Stewart, of Surfside, TX, Phillip (Shandrel) Stewart, of Pearl City, HI and Desira Stewart, of Chillicothe; 5 grandchildren; a great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews including a special niece to the family, Diane Scheib, of Pickerington, OH. He was predeceased by brothers and sisters.

Richard retired from the Chillicothe VA Medical Center where he had worked as the Chief Fiscal Officer for 30 years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 108 and American Legion Post 757 where he had volunteered as the Financial Manager of Post 757 Colts Baseball Program for many years. Richard was a member of the all around “Good Guys” club.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Jack Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call at Ware’s from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
