Ray E. Adams

Ray E. Adams, of Oak Hill, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 26, 2014. He was born August 3, 1933 in Scioto County, Ohio, to the late James and Edna (McGuire) Adams. He attended school in the area until his fathers untimely death when he left the eighth grade to tend to things at home.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Glen Adams; daughter, Doldie Russell; step-father, Gus Caldwell; brother, Dick Adams; and sisters, Elsea Haynes, and Virginia Coon.

He served his country during the Korean War, stationed in Germany as a cook. Promptly after returning home from his service, he called up Doris Glenora Ewing, the gal he broke up with before going into the service, and was married April 30, 1955. Ray and Glen worked a farm in Oak Hill and raised four children before she went home to be with the Lord on December 21, 1988. Ray along with working the farm, worked various jobs but retired from AK Steel in 1980.

Ray is survived by his brother, Henry (Minnie) Adams; brother, Jim (Shirley) Adams; brother-in-law, John Coon, of Oak Hill; son, Kelvin (Lisa) Adams, of Florida; daughter, Donna Henry (Butch Booth) of Oak Hill; son, Vincent (Tonya) Adams, of Oak Hill; grandchildren, Heather (Anthony) Trout, Elizabeth (Shane) Barton, Michael (Janet) Russell, Jordan Henry, Sonya Adams (Alex Davis), and Vincent Adams II; great-granddaughter, Asia Russell, Cauley Trout; dear long-time friend, Helen Processor; and an abundance of nephews, nieces, cousins, and other ones who loved him.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2014 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home in Oak Hill. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Jackson, Ohio with military graveside services by the DAV post #45. Friends may call Sunday, June 29, 2014 from 2 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
