Ralph D. “Denny” Fortner

Ralph D. “Denny” Fortner, age 63, of Wellston, passed away Monday, Dec. 25, 2017 at his home. He was born Nov. 10, 1954 in Dayton, Ohio to Wendell Fortner and Martha Jane Perry Fortner.

Denny was a 1973 graduate of Brookville High School. He retired from Verizon Telephone Company, where he was employed for 32 years. Denny was a member of the AmVets and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors.

He is survived by his mother, Martha Jane Fortner of Brookville; his wife of 44 years, Robin L. Curtis Fortner; children, Nicole Hampton (Chris) of Spencerport, NY, Beau Fortner (Heather) of Wellston, and Jawn Fortner of Wellston; grandchildren, Cecilia Hampton, Lauren Fortner, Colt Fortner, Nicholas Fortner and Hannah Fortner; brother, David Fortner of Brookville; sister, Joy Jackson of Lewisburg, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Denny was preceded in death by his father, Wendell Fortner, and his sister, Susan Reindel.

Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. In keeping with Denny’s wishes, cremation will follow the calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions be given to Holzer Hospice, 2881 St. Rt. 160, Gallipolis, Ohio 45631.
