Phyllis J. Hughes, age 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at Oakwood Community Health Center of Jackson. She was born in Oak Hill on July 15, 1932 to the late Virgil and Clara Hughes.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her sister, Sharon (Jack) Greer.
Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Gene Hughes, of Portsmouth; along with her nieces, Diana Greer Parks, Catherine Beaumont and Michelle McCall; nephews, Steve Greer (Karen Strickland) and Jerry Greer; as well as several cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
Phyllis was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and was employed at Oak Hill Banks for 45 years.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Horeb Cemetery in Oak Hill with Pastor Becky Wingo officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. In memory of Phyllis, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
