Peggy Sue Mercer

Peggy Sue Mercer, age 56, of Jackson, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022, en route to Holzer Hospital after suffering from an extended illness. She was born July 13, 1965, in Oak Hill, Ohio to the late Glendon G. Tenant and Peggy L. Murray, now of Jackson. Peggy was a 1984 graduate of Jackson High School.

Peggy was a former employee of Dairy Queen, Burger King and lastly Long John Silver’s, where she was made a manager before her illness made her stop working. Her favorite pastimes were spending any time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and talking to people through social media. She loved wrestling, Elvis and pigs. She enjoyed getting her point across, especially when it came to her beloved Michigan.

She is survived by her mother, Peggy Murray of Jackson; sisters: Rhonda Russell of Ray and Helen (Cecil) Tripp of Jackson. She is also survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Jon) Simpson; son, Ronnie (Danielle) Mercer; son, Carl Mercer; daughter, Vadelia Mercer (Josh Mollett) and bonus daughter, Courtney (Kenny) Reed-all of Jackson; eleven grandchildren with one on the way; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her father, she is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Braelynn Mercer.

Her services will be held Wednesday, May 25 at Mayhew Brown Funeral Home. The calling hours are from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. with the funeral to follow. She will be buried at Mt. Nebo Cemetery in Ray. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to help with the funeral expenses.
