Pearl Canter

Pearl Canter, 83, of Jackson, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 as the result of an automobile accident. He was born on April 29, 1932 in Wellston, son of the late John and Mary (Hayburn) Canter. Pearl proudly served his country as a Corporal in the United States Army from August 1952 until September 1955. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Church, Wellston.

He is sadly missed and survived by his children: John (Tina) Canter of Cleveland, Mike (Betty) Buckley of Hamden, Susan Covin of Wellston, and Martha (Gary) Tilley of Jackson; brother, Wesley Canter; sisters, Nancy, Marie, Amy, Carolyn Sue, Mary Ellen, and Betty Ann; as well as 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Pearl was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Cartwright) Canter; son, James Canter; brother, Ray Canter; and sister, Nellie Wyatt.

A graveside service honoring Pearl’s life and service to our country will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 3 p.m. in Salem Cemetery, with Pastor Tom Pennington officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #371 of Wellston.
